I’d like to believe that everyone’s trying their best with what they have in all the ways they know how. Maybe not everyone’s trying their best. But it doesn’t help anyone if we don’t believe the best about them. And that’s my best: to believe we’re trying.

I am deeply convicted by this.
While I’ve read “Judge not lest…” repeatedly in the last 65+ years, I still continue to judge. Believing everyone is already doing his/her best changes everything.
Knowing it surely isn’t true doesn’t change the fact that it is better for me to act as if it IS true.
