People who blithely go through life too busy or indifferent to ask the hard questions about why they believe as they do will find themselves defenseless against either the experience of tragedy or the probing questions of a smart skeptic. So very true J.S. When I was young my father taught me the importance of understanding the opposite viewpoint. In essence I guess this a part of doubting. When we can understand the opposite of what we believe and refute it then our faith is secure.
