By Sam Allberry
Most sermons and books on the resurrection are about the proofs and circumstances surrounding it, but really there is little material about the implications of Jesus rising from the grave. If you took a minute to explain what it actually does in your daily life, you may be surprised to find how difficult it is to articulate. Sam Allberry does an incredible job detailing the cosmic and personal scope of the resurrection that unpacks this neglected truth of the Gospel. Keeping it biblical with offbeat humor, Allberry’s engaging wit and urgent style will reaffirm and even re-instruct what you thought you already knew.
Note: The book is currently not sold in the U.S. and I purchased it from a bookstore in the UK. I highly recommend getting a copy even if you must pay a little extra for shipping. Altogether it cost about ten dollars.
The four points are simple: the resurrection gives us assurance, transformation, hope, and a mission. At 142 pages, the book is not longer than it needs to be. Sam Allberry also has a razor wit, using creative illustrations that drew me in and even had me laughing loudly. If you’re a pastor, there are at least a few illustrations here that will come in handy.
